You really know you’ve really crossed the start-up threshold when you move your work space out of your bedroom and into … an office! (eep!)

This was a new endeavor that 2016 had in store for me and I most definitely welcomed it with wide. open. arms!  *you can hear me crying tears of joy right now*  When I started my blog in 2013, my desk = my bed. Come 2014, and my desk was placed smack in the middle of a UT auditorium (sorry, professors!…), and in 2015, my desk sat across from my bed — continuously taunting me with a never-ending to-do list (even when I attempted to turn it all off). I stand to make the point that, although it takes time, effort, patience, and [yes we can’t forget those] finances in order to attempt to separate work life and personal life — it’s an essential step and one that should be done at some point in time. Of course, may I reiterate this only can happen once all the above factors fall into place (be patient, my darlings… good things take time!).

When designing The Darling Detail office – we now have a team of f-i-v-e total (is this real?) part-time and full-time employees including myself.  And it all came down to creating a clean, calming, and well-balanced work space to host the team and myself. We wanted a playground that felt fresh and fun and that could also serve as a backdrop for producing and creating quality and darling (of course) content. SO — Enter spoonflower, a destination for creatives and artists alike, that provided us with the CAYUTEST kind of office backdrop. This charcoal dots wallpaper was the cherry-on-top of the office design and we couldn’t be more thankful for their kind customer service team and quick turnaround and service. This wall adds a pop of fun to the atmosphere and I couldn’t be more in love with the way it turned out (and Chloe most definitely thinks so too). I’m super excited to play dress up and use these cutie dots (that currently embellish my phone case, desktop wallpaper, and all my home pillows).

Although I didn’t photograph our entire work space since it is still in the works — I was excited to give you guys a glimpse into what we’ve been working on the past couple of months (and why I’ve been a bit MIA from posting on the blog as much as promised). After officially moving out of the bedroom and into an office in the last 2-3 weeks, I’ve founded a much more physical, mental, and emotional lifestyle when it comes to balancing work and play. If you’re dreaming of a personal endeavor in the future — or have your own hobby/shindig on the side — I highly suggest moving that mental to-do list out of the bedroom and into a coffee shop, home office, or some other type of space to alleviate any tension that can arise. In the meantime, keep up the fabulous work and keep on dreamin’ dahlins! XO
