Before I took my blog full time, my goal was to move to New York City and work in fashion.
In those 19-year-old dreams of mine, I always pictured myself: dressed up in the city, headed to a work meeting, and wearing something a whole lot dressier than how I dress myself here in Austin! At least, that was the plan! Upon graduation (I was a fashion merchandising major at The University of Texas), things started to take a turn and my plans soon turned into new ideas, and the blog turned into a business instead of a hobby. Being a full-time fashion blogger was most definitely not my first choice post-graduation (believe it or not, I fought the whole idea!) and I was very set on heading to the city and/or working for someone else/a big fashion house. Finally, after fighting God’s plan for me and this little blog, I realized my home was here (in Austin) and my desire was quickly being molded into working for myself (and by myself, at the time). Looking back in hindsight, I’m not mad about listening to what my gut was telling me to do.
One of the biggest requests I get from you girls is styling 9-5 professional wear. This honestly makes me feel excited, because it gives me an excuse to style, try on, and experiment with the clothes I thought I would be spending most of my 20’s in (if I were actually meant to be living in the city!). After running last week’s giveaway, I’m going to try my best to respond to many of your requests and give you some business casual outfit ideas. It’s a lot more difficult for me — but I’m excited to dive into another form of dress and incorporate it here on the blog.
Today’s outfit is simple (as usual), but classic, and girly. I chose an affordable bag that can hold all your goodies, and a neutral pencil skirt. Note: I’m obsessed with the designer of this skirt, Halogen, when it comes to workwear. This striped gem is incredibly comfy (I ordered a petite since Halogen runs a bit large, I am 5’4) and friends, it actually fits! I seem to have a hard time finding skirts that fit properly (the struggle is r-e-a-l).
This classic white button-down is always a good idea — no matter the season, and can also be styled casual-chic with a pair of denim jeans and sneaks, and knotted! I’ve styled this particular blazer multiple times on the instagram and blog accounts, and I had to add it into the mix. It adds a pop of fun to the natural ensemble — for all my fashion girls. Get in on all the full details below, darlings! XOXO
